“Best App for Good” Award
The GREEN$ mobile app developed by the Environmental Protection Department has been awarded the 2024 Google Play “Best App for Good” in Hong Kong. As at end October 2024, the GREEN$ Electronic Participation Incentive Scheme (GREEN$ ePIS) has gained over one million user accounts, with recyclables submitted through GREEN$ ePIS exceeding 60 000 tonnes since its launch in November 2020. The positive response from the public does not only affirms our efforts, but also reflects the enthusiasm of the public for waste reduction and recycling, demonstrating a change in their living habits through action. We welcome collaborations with different platforms to jointly foster a strong culture of green waste reduction and recycling in our society, by leveraging information technology to engage more members of the public and to provide service in a more convenient manner.
